Chuckles, most of the plastics have some kind of scent...
little atom uses their 'C-9' scent and the whips use anise.
whether it helps or not, I don't know...but I think so.
I've had decent luck with some of the gulp stuff too, but not consistently.

As for the size, like Big Tuna mentioned, just cut them down for picky eaters.
I usually trim them down for gills, but the bigger ones don't mind them whole.

Like the looks of that impulse mayfly catchabigone posted...
and I was trying not to buy anything new this year.

Genz balls or necular ants are superb for first ice. Tipped with maggots. Small kast master on bottom for weight. ;-)

Chauncy, great videos thanks for posting. That sure gets me excited for ice fishing.

Dustydoo, have you ever tried making your own? There are some online dealers that sell assorted size nickle and gold blades for making teardrops, rockers and some other styles. There are even some molds to hold the blades and hooks so you can solder the hooks to the blades.Just make sure you use gold or nickle plated hooks then rinse the lures in acetone to clean then rinse with water and they are ready to paint.I use either nail polish or a water based paint kit from Do-It molds.I'll try to post some pics later.

I'm gonna fish more and work less.

I'm so pumped to get out on the ice this year. It can't come quick enough.

Thanks guys. Made another one but i waited too long to start shooting it and the bite had stopped completely. Ended up with just shots of a pile of perch and gills on the ice.

I am going to be making a bunch of ice rods soon.  That little wire tip you got on there, is that pre-attached or something that you put on yourself?  Looks interesting, I would like to know more.

Thanks,

Adam.

Bill,

What size/colors of nuggies do you use?

Thanks, Bill. A couple of us are planning a trip up to Pymy after New Years. I hope we get a long ice season like last year! I finally got a Vexilar toward the end of last ice season, but I'm just starting to understand how to use it... Good luck!

Can't remember the name of that spring tip. As Bill said, they have them at 5 points baitshop. When i head out that way, i'll get the name for you. I can wait for ice when the fishing is as good as it is right now. Marking my spots on the handheld gps now. Hopefully it will put me back on these.

Sorry for getting back so late on this. I just found the extra one i had stashed. It's called an action bite indicator. I use the ultralite action but they make diffrent ones. Here's the website on the back of the package. www.ActionTackleProducts.com.
