Just because someone has owned a centerpin longer, means didly

No one said that, but maybe there are some people out there that have used the method longer and have more experience with it other than elk creek and uncle johns campground. You said you didn't understand why guys put so much interest into making the rod as light as possible and I gave you a specific reason/scenario why they do. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but just because my opinion/experience is different from yours is no reason to not respect mine.

Same thing happened over wading boots last year with shutupnfish (opinion/experience is different from yours).

BTW I think the rod is the soul and the reel is the heart ; )

Adam,
Nice work, man.
I had a 15'er built a long time ago.  It too has solid titanium guides.  Hell, the guides on the butt section alone cost as much as today's St.Croix sleds.
If I could find a 17' or even 18' rod...

Thanks Kenny.  As TroutAbout mentioned, there are blanks out there that long.

It is the policy of FishUSA.com that the discussion boards and fishing reports should be enjoyable and appropriate for all. We use the "young viewer" standard - if a post is not appropriately viewed by a younger user, then it is not appropriate here and is subject to being edited or deleted. The following are the standards by which we judge the appropriateness of posts and the rules we will apply:

Disagreeing with the views of others is fine. However, name-calling and personal attacks on others is not acceptable.

Gotcha...Out of character for me for sure and I know that type of stuff rarely happens around here and gets cleaned up right away. Depending on who is doing the cleaning and who is getting cleaned of course. Nice job.
