I love the colors on this one!!!

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

nothing wrong with some plain jane basics; especially in the fall for freshies...

Orange Ally. Bit heavy handed...rib off and hackle too heavy. Been a while since I tied salmon patterns. All that foam work for Montana spoiled me.

Tying for a friend going to the Miramichi in a week.

Sam, you got it going on. They'll work just fine for ya.

Cold, dig them colors.

Sorry but I have been pretty busy around here. Want to stay away from the junk for a bit and did up with this guy. Its based on a fly done by Bob Warren. Does this thing look like a fall fly or what?

Two of the three pictured have been given away to 2 members of my NY crew. Hopefully they'll get into a solid fish or 2 on the Catt. I did up 2 more for myself. As soon as I get a chance, this may be my first fly used this season if conditions are right. No trick photos on this close up Kev. The head is dry on this one buddy.

AJ 3
copper wire tip
org mylar tag
org buck for tail
org seal ribbed with wire for back half of body
GP yellow rump feathers for veil of rear
blk ostrich @ junction
rust floss ribbed with wire for front of body
claret dyed GP followed by nat red GP for front hackle

Golden Pheasant Spey variation? Dig that fly's colors...spells fall swinging. Thats a great fly this time of year.

I said I wanted to stay away from the junk this year but the weatherman is changing my mind. I've always swung this pattern, it will always be in my deadly dozen. Great movement. Great profile. No dubbing loops and no expensive or exotic materials. I have noticed that this fly always gets better after it has been fished some. So I am starting them out with alittle less material. I had one that looked and was beat to sht. But it kept popping fish. I was going to retire it and let it live on my bench but it ended up in a watery grave.

Colors are whatever you want. But this is what you see.

blk uv bump
blk GP shoulder feather for a prop
blk boo for rear
blk master bright dubbed body (peacock ice dubbing is a great maybe even better sub)
blk spun deer for front prop
blk boo for front hackle
char ice dub head
bead chain or lead eyes (I use this one in bead chain because I dont want the super sink rate. I like to keep this one light to gain as much movement as possible. I use the big eyes when using ostrich. Just my thing not gospel.)

Really like the middle one KJH. Is that the whiting spey hackle? or something different?

KJ...... A throat or a small collar would absolutely rock out that first fly. I bet a blue would look really nice. But I really like it as is and will produce just fine.. That last one has a grab written all over it. Middle one will never work, just throw it into the rocks or downed tree branch now.

Took one out for a swim today and must say "dialed in." I finally may stop messing around with this pattern and stick to this one. I did these up for cold water. For once I may be ahead of the game. Sorry no step by or recipe for this one. Figure it out on your own its not that complicated.

yes one is different for a reason
