May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

I fished the Little J near bellwood on new years eve. Caught a lot of fish, saw nobody else on the stream. Most of the fish were bows. Thats the only section on the LJ that I catch more bows than browns. It must get stocked.

It does get stocked drake.  John fishes there a lot.  No springs there, so it boils in the summer.

I'll let you know if I can fish later this week.  Probably be playing in the woods Saturday.

I noticed one spring where we parked, but there was not a lot of flow from it. A fish commission officer told me the water quality there is very good, however, I have a hard time believing that with all the runoff that comes from the farms nearby.

I didn't actually weigh my big Bow. I did the measuring thing. Don't have a pic, but I wish I did. Was a little shy of 30". Old fish.

Maybe give the length & girth. I wish they had pics of them all with a referance.
I know I've caught a few big fish and nothing ever compares to seeing it right in front of you in the water.
Case in point- this Brown wouldn't even fit in the net. He was the heartiest fish I've ever caught. Ever since I don't carry a net unless the kids are fishing. And yes he went back to spread the genes. This Red sided Brown is a strain I've never seen, or read about anywhere. They get big and wide judging from the few I've seen.

I dont believe thats a different strain, ive caught quite a few like that, I believe its just age. Drake helped me land one on SC last summer about that size. He was a little low on weight at the time.

Big fish. He was about 26 1/2". He had girth. Nicest Brown I've ever landed in my opinion.
When he came out & took the fly the whole stream turned into a swirl. One of those things you never forget.

Magnificant brown trout!  I'm not a biologist, but could the coloring have anything to do with what he has consumed?

not to change the subject, but has anybody been fishing in a creek and spooked a large trout, the fish bolts past you, and you can hear the fish swim? as well as feel the vibrations? it happened some years ago, didn't know the fish was there, estimated size of 28''.never could get any to believe me. oh yea i'm in up to my waist in water.

the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I Sure have. Many times.
About the fish- these Red ones are diff. shape, color, etc.. I have caught a fair amount of big fish and never saw anything like these few I've seen.
Check this out....Ready to get back home... See the size and shape of that head? Wish I could run into more like him.
