11/24 lower river

Took Don Weber from Saratoga for his second steelhead trip. Decided to fish from the bank instead of the boat. We started off down low for some fresh fish moving into the river. After the sun came up good , we had fish coming up to the surface, but wouldn't bite. Moved to the second spot and Don hooked up on his first float a big female that kicked his butt he played it perfect but came unhooked after about a ten minute fight. I retied his rig and put him on the same rock three floats later he was hooked up again. We ended up 5 for seven fishing down low. We moved up river and walked to a, hit and miss spot in the afternoon. We had to our selfs and it was full as I thought. Don hooked up right away and it took him for a ride down stream 1/8 of a mile and we landed it a nice 10 lb male. we ended up alltogether 9/12 with one four lb brown, not a bad day.

Yes I set him up with a 10ft berkley tactix 8lb main 5 lb leader #10 blackbird hook . I let also fish with my 13.6 float rod. He had a great time!

Im sorry they are 8'6 .I love them for the boat and when I go walking the bank, the 13 ft rod gets hung up on every tree, stick. The guides rock I put some car wax on them and ice don't stick. I haven't been out on a day yet like sat with them yet but they should be fine. For the $60.00 they are worth it.Another great rod is the Air im7 the a94-10-6n 10.6 is a great centerpin rod.

No need to apoligize pro, I heard about those rods a few moths ago having those featured guides and interested in owning one someday  but I already have a quality steelhead outfit. Bought it last year for 90.00 at fat nancys  the IM8 okuma guide select 9'6" and with my stradic 2000 this combo performs wonderfully. Probably won't be able to afford a trip until after the new year maybe march fishing if the icefishing season gets cut short.
