Crazy ideas

Have any of you made a goal to do something fishing related? Me and my friend have made it a goal to go to every state and catch some type of trout or salmon before we die. Just made me wonder if anyone else has some fishing related goals for life

That might get tough in some states where they dont have em.

I think Florida, for one, doesn't have many, if any, salmonids.

    Cool mission, though.

Not a real trout, but close enough. Im gonna try to get a carp on the fly(im a very inexperienced fly fisher). And a self guided winter James river blue cat trip is also on my short list.

For some of those trout Finds you are really going to have to get 'out there' Arizona and New Mexico will be difficult, as will texas, Oklahoma Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama. Going to take some real scouting. Never really thought about it that much but that is a real goal. Try high in the mountains or below dams in most of them. Nevada means either wayy north or right below the Hoover dam (10 miles). You might be better off if you made it bass. Nevada does have some early season stockings in some lakes close to Vegas but they are usually all dead by July, when the water gets too warm. Logistics will be a nightmare! good Luck!

If sea trout count (they're not salmonids), then the quest becomes significantly easier on the fishing end.

I'm with Skip on the mermaid.

Ok the sea trout do count, but only in cases where we cant catch freshwater trout in the state, and i know its going to be hard and take alot of research and time, but im 17, i still have alot of time to go

MAn, this post got me thinking and i had to check where I've caught "trout". It's 34 in the USA, mostly northern. 4 in Canada, and three in Germany, and 1 in Scotland. That is a real objective. Go for it! I'd imagine Hawaii would be difficult too. Even for sea trout.

Thats pretty cool, i didnt know if other countries had trout or not, especially on other continents. Thats pretty cool you caught some in germany and scotland.  And hawaii was my main worry, but one of the islands is stocked with trout, already looked it up.  I think with that trip ill be more happy about being in hawaii than the fishing.

The brown trout here in the U.S.more than likely came from either Germany or Scotland.

Rainbows in this area likely originally got here during floods, when the Erie tribs were blown out over their banks, and steelhead escaped into other watersheds.

Mermaids spawn, not much fun in that.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The closer we adhere to the Holy Bible and the US Constitution (as it was written) the closer we get to the model that made America great. The great American experiment worked, human nature just got in the way.
