Rainshadow XST1382F Centerpin Build

This is a Rainshadow XST1382F 11'6'' Centerpin I built for a customer in Michigan looking to target fall steelhead.  The handle is burl block with brown rubberized and burnt accents with a 45 degree cut in the transitions.  The reel seat is ALPS size 12 TRI, guides are Fuji Concept spin guides in 20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 8L configuration including a main guide tip for smooth line flow.  Thread is Pac Bay Purple and Gudebrod charcoal with green metallic inlays, finished with Threadmaster Lite.  Enjoy.

    Very nice work>

Is there a reason why a guide is used on the rod tip instead of the normal rod tip ?  I have noticed that quite a few pins are done that way.

It aids in a few things, mainly from wet mainline sticking to the blank by a spin top bringing it too close, but this also helps to cast better allowing a smoother transition of line through the guides.

i have a 14' loomis myself that has a regular guide on the tip... it works great

loomis, great work i must say; i build rods myself but am always in a rush to fish them and dont get so detailed in the wraps... great work though.

did you customize all of the differential cork work yourself???

    GREAT JOB

They are generally larger in diameter as well, which aids in less ice build up during the cold winter months.

You are correct about the ice-up tactic as well.  The guides on this rod are arranged in 20, 16, 12, 10, two size 8, and then finished up to and including the tip with Fuji size 8Lwhich is a lower stanchion guide that still has the size 8 ring.

Thank you for the kind words.
