S.R to Oak

What is the travel time from Salmon River to the Oak area. I'm thinking of hitting the S.R friday, but making the trek over to Oak area on Saturday?
thanks in advance!

About 3.5 hours, depending on how you go, and how you do getting through Rochester.  Check out the Orl;eans OPutdoors site before you go.  The Oak can be very crowded this time of year and if you are getting Chrome in the SR, it might not be worth the ride for the browns at the Oak.

    now that's an understatement.

    The Oak is a Joke.

Walk to an area on the SR that is not crowded and Fish for unmolested fish.

I visited the Joke once, NEVER AGAIN...

Plenty of steel in the SR.

Steel on a pin---so easy a caveman can do it.

Thanks for the info. Actually I was thinking of checking out the smaller streams in thehe area that shall remain unnamed? Is the whole area a joke or just the oak itself?

I love hitting the chrome on the S.R. and other streams in the area if they are getting runs.....why go on a wild goose chase I guess. Thanks for making my mind up for me!
    Will report on my return.

I did the wild goose chase last weekend...........the oak was a joke.........and the people who were fishing there were pathetic.............water was low and clear..........then high and littered with leaves and floating dead salmon.....I did make the run to Pulaski and had a blast...........my drive time taking 104 to 3 to 13 was about 3 hours.............lots of small villages on 104 which meant 35 and 40 MPH zones..................

plenty of steelhead in Pulaski......more than I thought I would see............

the Oak might have some good days in it............but when I was there--  not many fish, except a few browns and a few kings that didn't realize they were already dead...............walked away from folks--if it is possible to do it there.......found a nice riffle / run and hooked a fish, hooked another---then I had 8 new best friends who favorite word was F *&% and suck my Ba**s etc.......insane bunch of fellas I was around............it was at that time I understood that I had made a mistake by trying the Oak......  just my thoughts...........
