Potato Creek

I went and fished there Friday and had no luck. The water was high, but other creeks werent. Its a pretty big stream. I fished down to where Red Mill Brook entered. Does anybody know some nice spots on the creek, prefferably where it is smaller and slower?

Start at the head waters and work down.

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Potato creek is a great creek, the state stocks from the bucktail bridge down to town,Norwich sportsmans stocks the creek from the bucktail bridge up stream to betula creek. At least that's the way it used to be as I can remember, leave your eggs and powerbait at home only brookies and browns get stocked, they want the meat when they are chasing minnows you will do really well. I personally have 2 4.5 lb brookies mounted on my wall from that creek. Great creek for holdovers seen some monster browns in there.

Ya my grandpa swore by it but he passed years ago, and my dad never really fished up there, so I've just been fishing Marvin Creek, Kinzua and the West Branch of the Clarion. And Relayer, if you could relay, where the Bucktail Bridge is exactly thatd be great. I caught a holdover Brookie out of Seven Mile run, it was 5 lbs 7 ozs.

Bucktail bridge is the 2nd bridge up from town. bucktail inn is close by. We use to do very well from the 1st bridge down towards town very nice deep strechs and some real nice holes half way down past the 1st bridge. It's big water nice and wide and deep very easy wade though small pebbles and sand. Like I said if they aren't chasing minnows you'll have a hard time catching them,we used #1 brown, black roostertails also small sinking rapalas and #2 vibrax lures also spun minnies,if they are chasing minnies you will have a great time my total in 1 day was 81 trout caught, just wait till the water receeds to much natural food gets washed in at high water. goodluck!!!!

The Fish Comm. stocks clear up to the bridge on Rt. 46, then they go up past the gate on the left to where Havens run meets Potato or up to the large beaver dam. Then they stock Havens Run up to the game lands.

I fished at that first bridge going to Clermont down. I walked down the road across from bloomster hollow and walked downstream, that was it.

Nice, my buddy caught one like that at Marvin Run and I caught a 24 inch Palomino, we put them both back. We caught 37 in the morning, I was really upset when he told me he forgot his digital camera
