A few northwestern streams

Making a voyage from erie to indiana, pa this wednesday and was thinking of hitting a stream or two along the way. Does anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at the DHALO section of oil creek or maybe the fly fishing only c&r on little sandy. I know some members fish the oil regularly but havent heard much about the little sandy. What sort of flies work well this early in the spring? Any info would be appreciated.

might see black or brown stones , probably brown now though , they were both just stocked so anything to get their attention will work , nothing special , little sandy is a small stream that gets crowded with a little bit of pressure , oil on the other had is alot more friendly to pressure

Yeah I saw that both had been stocked, thats why I thought I might have a chance into fooling something into biting. I have only really fly fished for steelhead mostly so I am by no means an expert. Maybe just some basic nymph and streamer patterns will do.

With the rain we've had here I'd venture to say that both Oil and Little Sandy are blown out and may stay that way for a few days.

Oil was at a ridiculous 3750 last I checked which is about 3200 too high to fish, I would assume that Little Sandy is the same. Without any rain oil would maybe fish sunday in my opinion, but with the forecasted rain I would guess end of next week at the earliest to be semi-fishable.

Its no secret that PA is chincin' out when it comes to stockings.  We pay a good price for our licenses, and the Bureaucrats use the money elsewhere.  I guess they figure fishermen aren't a large group that would effect elections.  I am considering getting a license in another state next year.  Getting tired of this Bullsh_t.

I didnt live so far from Delaware I'd buy my Non-Resident for a whopping $20. That $20 covers freshwater, saltwater, crabbing and clamming. For $6.20 more you can fish Trout. Was there in Sept 2010 and I'd go back to fish it more but a 7.5 hour drive one way kinda makes it hard

I was there also, got there a little late, but they had 5 buckets and 5 guys... so I fished instead. I went back the next day and found 2 pods about 1/4 mile down from the second set of buckets. I havent been back, had to go back to work, but yeah, they didnt put alot in.

no i think we need more trout.  my kid went out last year on the first day with me to a real nice creek, tons of guys.  No one was catching anything.  we even helped stock, the little guy likes helping.  them fish weren't biting at all.  this year, i'm getting dog food on the hook.

we tried wax warms, nighties, meal, powerbait in all colors.  green is usually my go to. i even  tried mixing yellow and green together and we got nothing.  if i'm paying all this money for my license i want more fish.  my buddy also said the steelhead numbers are way down
you tell me man.  what was up that day?  you think poaching was going on?

Its possible there was some poaching going on, or the stockies got flushed downstream. But you gotta remember fish move around, not all of them will sit in the same hole they were stocked in.

Had a great day yesterday on one of the NW streams.  Caught 12 in a two hour period, including one on a dry.

this stream is only so big. after last night, i'm sure it was poached. all this money i pay for a license and the commission isn't doing anything about it.
