Fishing Report 11/12/07

I fished the upper river yesterday and got to my favorite spot late and only found two people fishing in the area.  I fished upriver of the two anglers...leaving them plenty of room and began to cast my Float rig across the river.  After about 10-15 casts, I saw a flash...and my float was ripped underwater.  The fish stayed put for a minute and then made a mad dash toward me.  I reeled line as fast as possible...hoping to stay tight to the fish.  I fought the fish for what seemed like 10 minutes...and got him close to shore...but had difficulty landing because of the float rig and a 13ft rod.  Luckily Guide George O'Brien(The Trophy Angler) floated by with his clients and offered to net the fish for me(Thank you).  It was a beautiful 11-12LB bright chrome steelie.  For the next few hours...I had a small fish on and another take or two, and then got into another nice fish which I fought for awhile and then lost.

All in all, a fantastic day on the river...if you can make the trip, its worth it.

I was going to try to sneak off this coming week like Mon.-Tues., but got the call to go Bear Hunting on Monday.
The gap I plan to hunt has a spring coming down the Mountain with Little Brookies in it. I'll be looking for them too.

Oswego i was told up there is the place to be. But some nice fish are in that SR!  good luck go light and blue. I learned the float technic from a professional SR regular too.

sal if you boss/work pays the bills and if your employer provides you with a reasonably healthcare/benifit plan, be thankful you have that job. I use to complain a bit too when I had good steady employment at cablevision for 7 years until the co. bought out our union and a year latter my 28 dollar an hr. plus benifits was terminated , I do handyman /home improvement services being self employed and no benefit plan or health plan. Just pray that our leaders steer us right during this age of high speed communication  "IN THIS IS MY UNITED STATES OF WHATEVER". type that in youtube you'll laugh
