Freezout Update 02/25/11

Erie's mayor has just declared a snow emergency for Erie running through Monday. I just want everyone planning on still making the trip to be prepared for really bad driving. Check the local websites for current weather conditions and please be careful. This past Monday Presque Isle was closed due to the snow storm and I would not be surprised if it was closed today and Saturday. If the Park is closed we will fish off of the Chestnut St. launch, however, we are still a go for the Stinkhole on PI. If you have to drive any real distance to PI, it may be better to stay home.

Thanks,

Jay

    I think he's a little late...?
Looks like the storm warning's over at 4pm today...
not supposed to start up again until tomorrow afternoon.

Here's the hourly forecast for tonight & tomorrow morning...

Stink hole or chestnut, either way, I'll be there.

How much snow did you get up there so far Jay?

The wind has been so bad that its hard to tell how much snow we have so far. Some spots have 1 or 2 inches, some 1 or 2 ft.

    See ya in the morning.

we got about 6-8" of sticky snow...makes the roads downright nasty...but with the end near and the low around 30 it should give the plows enough time to make a good impact by morning

Where would be the best place to get bait early tomorrow (6 am)? Isn't there a bait shop just before the gate to PRESQUE ISLE ?? Are they still open ??

Thanks, Fish USA!  Well done, as always.  Now I just need to catch a tuna to use that Smallest Fish Award prize!
