Jerry, could you please give us regular updates on ice conditions.  this week's forecast is an ice killer.  we may need a bridge built to get us out to the ice.

I was on the lake yesterday and there is 12-16 inches of ice and 10-12 inches is clear black ice. Guys with hand augers will be happy if some of the ice melted. LOL. It took all winter to build that amount of ice and it's not going to leave in two to three days of 50 degree weather. It's still getting below 32 degrees at night. Remember Canadohta Lake sits in a bowl. The only places it will get a little iffy is around the inlets/outlets. Also remember to wear you ice cleats as they will be needed!

A friday update would be great.  This weather is not helping the situation.  12 hours of 26 degrees previous to tourney is only going to make your back side pucker up when you pop though the top layer and squish though 6" of slush then hit ice.  I'm sure the edges are also getting sketchy.  I hope I'm wrong can't wait to fish.

the only issue we'll have is the edges.  there is no slush.  it'll either be fine, or the edges will be sketchy.  I can't wait... unless there's broken ice at the access points.  I'll wait until next year if that's the case.

I do agree that a Friday update would be great.

Just left the lake, the ice is 14-15 inches thick. 8 inches of black ice. No slush on top. Hardly any water. The edges are getting a little soft but plenty of places to get on the ice. Stay away from the free beach and dam. Remember you ice cleats and good boots!

Was out on it this afternoon- went out at launch and Sallys. A little squishy the first 10-15 feet, but then solid ice. No real problem.

want to thank timberland baits for having the tourney!!!what a great thing to do on a weekend. met lots of great people on the ice and had a hell of a time. it REALLY sucked catching only one 6.5 inch perch. my fishing pal got about 20 3-4 inch perch and a handful of 6.5-8 inchers and only having wind and big chubs pop flags, man the wind was ripping HARD the whole first day. but all in all was awsome. camped out on the ice for the first time waking up to insane cracking sounds is just nuts kinda sounded like a rifle going off ... that lake was just going off the chain about 3am and all morning until like noonish never heard any ice crack like that

no legal muskie where caught the guys next to us caught a 38 incher the first morning that was the only one and winning northern was 34.75 inches i believe

thanks jerry and all that helped. i will be back next year for sure and if you end up having another single day one that would b awsome.. maybe next time you wont need the lantern for the bait shop lol...

Wonder if the no Muskys caught has anything to do with the kill tournements that have gone on there for 20 years...
