Deep Creek lake

I know its not in SW pa, but... It has been bangin down there through the ice! Me and a buddy loaded up a bucket full of perch with quite a few jumbo's, 6 walleye 3 keepers, 28" pike between 7am-2pm we had over 50 flags. some perch and one eye on jigs all fishing blind ( no flasher). about 16-18" good solid ice. we were in the southern end of the lake, and will continue to go every weekend.

Thanks for the info egg.  The almost makes it worth the drive.  Were other people fishing around you having the same success or was it just you?  Also, I've never fished the lake in the winter.  Care to share what general area you were fishing?

I won't give exact location, but they are doing well around state park, and Green glade. Both are pretty big areas to fish as in square miles. tipups with light leaders 4lb and medium fatheads and shiners about 6"-12" off the bottom in 20'-30' of water Hali sikkula jigs or pimples, and fiskas with waxies or mags work ok. Bite is fast and furious in the morning from sunrise to about 9:00 and died off around 12. There were 2 groups of guys around us and they were icing good numbers too.

Its a good 2hrs. from the burgh maybe a tad longer. 26$ three day 52$ for the yr. on the license. if your familiar with yough dam or confluence, its about 30 mins from there.
