channel cat rods/reels

curious about what you folks use. i saw fisherlady and erie mako's armaments and they are quite impressive. appears that they are ready to do battle with all cats.

myself, i have a couple of ambassadeur 5500c reels matched up to berkley bionix sticks. i am beginning to feel under-armed.

after having every other rod\reel combo destroyed i finally settled on ambassadeur 5500c's on medium heavy ugly sticks loaded with 20lb suffix braid. that set up has worked fine for me all season this year. i've caught a few 20lb plus carp this year on it too. no problems at all. if i fished anywhere there were flatheads i'm sure my set up would not be sufficient. well atleast the reels wouldn't be.

Akitadog got it right if you're casting from shore.I use 7 and 8 foot rods out of my boat. The reels and line are the ticket. There's some big Flats in there if you want to go after them, might want to go up to 40 lb. big game.Circle hooks and live Bait like blue gills are always on the end of my line.
