Displaying your license
From this morning's press release === HUNTERS/TRAPPERS REMINDED THAT LICENSES STILL MUST BE DISPLAYED Hunters and trappers are reminded that they still are required to display their licenses in the middle of the back as has been done for many, many years, said Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe. “The Game Commission is supporting legislation to remove the statutory requirement that licenses be displayed, and thereby allow hunters to place their hunting license in their wallet with other ID,†Roe said. “However, until such time as the General Assembly removes this statutory requirement, hunters and trappers will need to continue to display their licenses.â€

I guess some folks where getting bored with their current argument and looked to stir up a new one, even though it is not new. PGC needs to catch up with the rest of the states (WI excluded) and get rid of the dang displayed tag requirement. Fire away. I know this is what you were waiting for.

I don't see the big deal with displaying your tag where WE HAVE DONE for ever????? I have used the same holder for a very long time with NO problems. Or is it keeping up with the JONES. As most other have choose to carry in the wallet????????

Fire away. I know this is what you were waiting for. I agree. No matter what, in order to check licenses the WCO is still going to have to get his hands on it to ensure everything is correct. What difference if I pull it from my wallet or from my back?

Absolutely no need to have it displayed on your back... Other than the lost revenue from righting fines for leaving it on your other hunting coat. I have one wallet and at least 8-10 different vests, coats and other hunting apperal.... And don't try and tell me it's so they can see that you have a liscence.. My old holder you can't even read the numbers through.. Might as well have a homemade liscence as far as they can see with out me taking it out..(Which I could do out of my wallet...) Just beacuse this state has been behind the times forever is no excuse to continue....

Not to be a smart arse.. BUT.. do you actually take your wallet into the woods with you ??? are you not afraid of losing it ??? I carry ID but not my wallet... I do not even do that for fishing.. had one slip out while fishing many years ago and it fell into the current and was gone forever.. and that ended that... license and ID and a permissiion slip (if needed) .. that's it... the rest is hidden near where I park the truck... or at home if fishing or hunting near home... I'm for displaying anywhere like the fishing licenses..

My wallet goes everywhere with me Doc. Plus I feel a lot safer carrying my wallet vs just carrying my ID while in the woods. I still don't understand what difference it makes where I have my license as long as I have it.

Not afraid of loosing it at all.. Same as carrying your ID..You afraid of loosing that?? Like to have my medical insurance card with me you never know.. If one walked more than a 100 yards from the road you can get twisted around and a few phone numbers in the wallet could come in handy... Can't hurt to have a spare twenty to grease the local deputy dog to look the other way..

My ID is a my old driver license.. so no foul if I lose that... no cell service anywhere I hunt.. so no need for phone numbers on me wallet is on the trip (usually) just not on me while in the woods... No big deal just found it interesting...

the new style license fits perfectly in a .99(cents)fishing license holder. Now if we could just get the fishing license to fit into the same holder without folding it we would be set.

jk the pins are way too small and cheap on a fishing license holder. i know for a fact sometimes they get bent from a nice jagger bush when fishing a brookie stream. i could just imagine what would happen when trudging thru our nice laurel or the hunter friendly purple jaggers------goodbye license

i always carry my wallet when hunting, ya just never know when the old car/truck will die on ya!! and usually the brush pants or even regular hunting pants have a 2 button system on the pocket. ya just got to remember to dry out the paper bills when you get home. The chance of losing your license is greater when being placed on our back, but thats just my opinion.

Never carry my wallet, let alone carry it in the woods. It is always in the truck... For those thinking that it might be a good idea to take it from the truck, there is never any money in it either. I do carry an expired drivers license in my license holder.
Better too far back, than too far forward.

When I carry my wallet either hunting or fishing ,I will slip it into a plastic sandwich bag to prevent it from getting wet. Even then I will normaly use an old wallet with my current drivers license(to prevent problems if I would get stopped by a cop while driving) a few bucks & 1 credt card. That way I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of trying to replace everthing in case I lost my wallet, which I have done.As far as using an expired drivers license, make sure the info matches your license info, such as change of address if you have moved or you may be in a bind. sam
