$1500 would've been great, but my prize is cool too

I finally tracked down the rogue mailman who didn't want to give up my package.  A few swift blows to the head and a foot to the groin, and this beauty is all mine...

I even picked up a new reel just in time.  The pictures don't do it justice.

To anyone who HASN'T purchased a Terry Raffle ticket,

This is an example of what CR500 can do with some graphite and spalted birch, let alone any number of exotic components.  You'd be nuts to pass up a chance to win a $400 - $500 fly rod for a $25 ticket, not to mention helping out the family of our departed friend.  As nice as this rod is, and it's hella-nice, I'm moist thinking about winning the Terry Rod.

Scott, this rod is awesome.  I'll be fishing it tomorrow if I can sneak out.(yeah, like that's not going to happen.)  Thanks for the updates and all the personalized touches you did.  If it had been finished in time for the banquet, they wouldn't be on it.  I'm glad you got buried with work before the Big Run.

Just think, guys.  He's been donating these beauties for years to the PSA Big Run Banquet, and hasn't been commissioned for even one yet.  I would have thought somebody would have stepped up and given this artist a chance to wow their socks off.

T.T.  If the fish see that rod, you'll have to hide behind a tree to bait up. Very nice Scott.....     Dave

Now, if only my wife would do the same.

As for the bait idea... never gonna happen.  That there's a spinnin' rod, and a spinnin' it will do.   Spoons and spinners only.  If I have to chuck bait with it, something is very, very wrong.

I got me a nice new fly rod for those.  No offense CR500, but I've got an Ugly Stick that's more than willing to get mucked up with bait.  I've even been known to toss sacs with the fly rod.  This rod is gonna be for hardware only.  Believe me, the rod will be busy.  The reel's lined and ready to scream.

The mailman was dropping letters when I got back today.  He asked if I got my package, and judging by my waders, he guessed it was a fishing rod.  I asked him if he wanted to see, and man, his jaw hit the ground.  "I've never seen a fishing rod like that.  Wow!"

"That rod will toss a float and sack without complaint"

**** skippy it'll toss a sac.  And, it'll land a 30 1/2" 11lb. chromer too.  So much for no bait with it.

This is the second fish landed with the rod.  The only thing sMall duud about it is the picture. (cam-phone)

btw- the first fish WAS caught with a vibrax spinner.

After a great fight that let me really get to know that rod, I let him go back to fight another day.  Go git him!

As for the spot, my first time fishing there.  At least I had the sense to crop most of the scenery out.

It's one of the streams where Terry Yocum spends his eternity.  I thought of him the whole time I was there.  I will be back.  5MP, maybe we'll share the drift.

Oh, I forgot to thank my guide.  Without his knowledge of such a remote section of stream, I never would have caught that fish.  It's amazing how much water is out there, and nobody knows about it.  The only problem was that when somebody (me) brought out the Donuts, the fish all shut off.  Except one hen.

TT,  the donuts have a way of making the fish shut off.  The two donuts you were fishing with are known for erradic wading techniques and slappy casts - both of which have been known to turn fish OFF..  Sorry that you had to be witness to that dude.  Maybe next time CC and TB will represent.
