1RST DAY TROUT IN ERIE
THEY ARE STOCKING SOME SMALL TROUT FOR THE KIDS ON OPENING DAY. I WAS AT ELK CRICK AND THEY BROGT THE WHITE TRUCK DOWN AND WERE STOCKING THE SMALLEST TROUT I EVER SEEN THEY WERE ABOUT 6 INCHS LONG. THE KIDS WILL BE UPSET WHEN THEY SEE THIS
WHEN I USED TO TAKE MY KIDS FISHING ON OPENER DAY WE CAUGHT ALL KINDS YELLOW, BROWNS AND RAINBOWS NOT ANYMORE
THEY STOCK LITTLE FISH THAT ARE TO SMALL TO EAT
ARE THESE PEOPLE CRAZY
ITS BAD ENOUGH THE POLISHIONS ARE CHARGING SO MUCH FOR GAS
NOW THEY WONT EVEN PUT NICE TROUT IN FOR THE KIDS
CATCH MY DRIFT

What you saw was most likely steelhead smolts being stocked so you'll be able to catch them as adults when you park your RV down at Walnut Marina. If you'd look at the PA Fish and Boat commission website you'll be able to find stocking schedules. Or, if you had bothered to READ a newspaper or anything, you'd see that PA is actually stocking LARGER fish this year... Yes, LARGER (but fewer overall). Do a little research before you start bashing the fish commission...

I think no one is "catching your drift" because you're casting your line into Retard Lake. SMOLTS not Smelt... completely different fish and YES, steelhead are a strain of trout. Kinda look like baby rainbows right??? And how would the Fish Commission charge for gasoline, let alone the state of PA? Gas prices rise and fall all around the country -- it's not some sort of conspiracy to make PA gas higher everywhere so the Fish Commission can buy a bigger truck. Oh, and how would buying a bigger truck even benefit them if the gas prices are so high as well -- bigger truck = bigger gas tank = more $ to fill tank.
Catch my drift????

First off as the others stated what you seen was smolts AKA baby Steelhead trout being stocked for future fishing oppertunitys. Elk, Crooked, 20 Mile and Cascade are not schedualed to be stocked with catchable size Brown Trout till April 13th.You know the 32 hour window that the Erie tribs are acualy closed. You seem to have this conspericy threory going on , but it sounds more like schizophrenia there are Shirnks and meds for that. Wait you can not do that as they are all behind a conspericy threory to make you pay more for drugs that you do not need as well. Catch my drift!!!!!

Actually Bobbi is correct in saying "dem dar fish was trout". Steelie smolt are trout, little baby steelhead. I would say they are way more fun to catch when they grow up, so let the children be, put on a bigger fly and fish for the adult steelies.
