This thread sucks, well not really this thread but just swinger...Use some ginger hair, steel mutts love it

The moment of truth. Where all other things unconsciously melt away from our minds the instant a fish takes our fly. We stand there on the water with wide eyes, caught in a battle stance with an idea of confidence and hope

swinger: Thanks! I've never really tied egg sucking leeches, thought I'd give one a shot. I wasn't going to tie it as a trailer, but that bead won't slide around the bend of any hooks I have. I (obviously) ended up having to clip a hook to get the bead on. Its hard to see, but that leech fly starts out with a bump of ostrich, then some rhea I had just ordered. The black spey covers it up, but I really like the long fibers without the thick azz stem of spey plumes. It was either you or KJH who posted something with rhea in it, so thanks for introduction.

The photos suck but you get the idea. Boy does this thing move in the water. It also moves the fish. Jumped 2 on this fly in garbage clarity. The blurry picture doesnt hide the clarity I swung yesterday though. Bait guys said it was to dirty. Ha ha!

Kev winter on your mind?

Kev,
I did up some tubes for my NY guys. But thats about it. I like your flies. But throw a rib on them for me. Gives it a tad of flash and also holds it together a bit better. The Skam trip is off for me. Trading the pass in for some more musky time. But the Catt trip will still be on. Hope to see you in NY. As always you are welcome on my waters. Take care.

hey swing do you fly fish for musky???

Got the dyed grizzly from a friend. Sick stuff. The butt and head are twisted peacock herl. The head didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to in the pic. I've got a thing for collars on flies. The spey hackle is Kori Bustard breast feathers. So much like heron. And legal! It takes dye really, really well too.

Crap! I forgot to add the whole reason why I posted this fly up. The hook? It's a new hook made by fellow Salmon Fly tyer Dave McNeese. Super nice hooks. High carbon steel and beautiful design. I believe he's selling them on fleabay under Blue Heron Spey hooks. Kind of $$, but waaaay better than Alec Jackson's deals.

Those are pretty **** nice.

I need to check this toob tying in more detail. It's the plastic tubing combined with melting stuff & lining the tubes, etc, that has kept me away. But if there is a new/better system out now I'm interested.

I'll bring the beer.
