Not sure about the exact boundries... but it is all or part of SGL 270, a public hunting area. It is not regulated for fishing...

If you're worried about duck hunters fish near the I-79 bridge.  Anyone found shooting near it won't be hunting for years to come!

    I've yet to see one..
Probably somewhere in the marsh. But I wouldn't go there targetting them, and actually expect to catch any..

I don't hunt anymore but I thought there were regs about shooting distances from roads in PA.

Yes, I have a Hobie Outback Fisherman and a Prijon Touring yak.  Mostly I fish from a pontoon float boat but I also have a couple canoes.  All depends on where I fish and with whom.

Thanks.  Must be why I saw two kayakers on French Creek yesterday wearing bright orange hats!

25 yards from the vehicle you just got out of.
You can actually hunt/shoot right from the side of the road, as long as you don't shoot across it.  You can even shoot across the road if your elevation is high enough to avoid hitting traffic.
Can't shoot at any animal that is on the road.

Don't know of any organized groups.  There are some yaking groups around Pgh but those are whitewater types.

I called the Pa game Commission.  Person told me the 25 yds, is from a vehicle, if you just got out of it.  You can shoot right from the roads edge.
Unless they gave me the wrong info.

There is a small dam about a mile east of the exit off 79 where you can fish from shore. I had a blast catching Bowfin on a white spinnerbait there last Spring. They sure are ugly fish,

    Lifted from the regulation booklet
Road Hunting: It is unlawful to 1) hunt from a vehicle; 2) shoot at
wildlife on a public road or right-of-way open to public travel; 3)
shoot across a road unless the line of fire is high enough to preclude
any danger to road users; and 4) alight from a vehicle and shoot at any
wildlife until the shooter is at least 25 yards from the traveled portion
    of the roadway.

There is nothing that I could find in the book that states how far from the road you can actually hunt, unless you just got out of the vehicle.
When we were kids the local warden always told us to stay 5yds from the rd while actually hunting but that was 25 yrs ago

Thanks for fillin in for me Coyote, I couldn't remember the name of that road. I recall following 285 further east and making a left and it takes you to where the swamp empties into French Creek. There is a park there. Ahhhh........so many fishin spots, so little time.......
