Anyone hitting Wilmore tomorrow?

Took a vacation day tomorrow since the AC is broke at my workplace.  Will be hitting Wilmore to try and catch the tail end of the crappie bite.  I'll be in a green 14 ft Starcraft.  Give me a shout if you see me.

If things arent happening there, I am going to load up and head over to Glendale.

Beautiful day, got to the lake before 6am and was the second one there.  Water was a little cloudy from all the rain (not the crystal clear it was Memorial weekend) but not bad.  Crappie were not on the timber any more and I gave up trying to locate them in the AM.  Focused on bluegills and quickly got 20 bulls in the live well.  Anyone know if "bluegills" count towards your 20 limit of " 7" or bigger sunfish" as part of the panfish enhancement regs on Wilmore?  I would think sunfish and gills are separate but I didn't really want to clean anymore than 20 gills anyhow.   Could have loaded the boat with ones you couldn't put a hand around.

Caught plenty of bass too and saw an older fella land a real nice one at the dock in the upper end.  Tried my luck at crappie and finally got into them scattered in deeper water but only managed 5 keepers and lots of shorts.  Best method was to troll for them with a white twisted until you found a pocket of them then set up with minnies under a bobber/slip bobber set real deep.  Schools seemed to be moving so it was tough to stay on them.

Got a tournament this weekend at gledale and going to Erie next weekend so maybe the following weekend i will hit up wilmore. Its really hard to beat the bass fishing there. Really should make more time to get there more often lol, o well thats life.

I have fished it at least once a week since the first week of April. I plan on being out there Saturday evening with the boat if it doesn't rain.

Like i said. I have fished it fathfully since April. I now have a better understanding (at least at wilmore) on how to catch these buggers. I would say that water temp has the biggest impact on the crappie. I have caught and released over a thousand this year. I will fish until rabbit season. Then its my dogs turn to have fun til February.

i was there from 11 to about 4 in the morning last night. fished with corn, crawlers, and livers--only one catty found the bank, but dancing in and out of raindrops put a damper on things. that was the worst fishing trip this year, usually do much better at night!!!

i wanna say that we recently stopped at the bait store off of munster exit going towards portage, and i want to personally say the owner is one of the nicest guys out there. i cannot remember the name of the place but will find out and post it for everyone to see. just a small, little place but is bigger than you think, and he honestly has more of the stuff you really need than others!!!

Yep, he even offered to come in early one weekeday when I was coming up from PGH to fish on Wilmore since some of the other local stores up that way didn't open up until 9am during the week.  I told him I wanted to be on the water before the sun was rising and he said no problem.  I eventually found a place here that was open later than I thought so I got them that night but it was nice to know he'd do that for a customer he didn't even know.

the countdown to saturday night is on!! looking for some info here--one of our buddies just got knee surgery--so we are looking for a deep part of the lake within lets say 100 feet of walking. never fished down by the breast so i have no clue what that is like, we mainly stay on the upper end (long dirt road off munster exit). any info is appreciated!!

if you go in on the RT 160 side it will take you to the breast. there is a fishing pier there that you can go out on if no one is there. also there is a trail that you will see that goes the whole way along the dam. its a nice, flat trail so it would not be hard to walk at all. there are many places along that to fish in deeper water. and you can be fishing within 100ft of the car, but if you wanna get away from the people you will need to walk a little farther. If you need more info just let me know. ill check this friday morning.

Only one catty found the bank last night. Had 4 very strong hits on livers but only to find out, we just pulled it out of their mouths. I'm thinking of switching to possibly a cirle hook to see if that helps. No big numbers on the board but a good night/day on the lake is better than sittin at home.

You will find alot bigger fish on that end of the lake. so keep at it and i know you will land one in the 35"+ class. i got a few big ones there in my day. I remember i was out there one night around 1am and one of my rods almost shot out of the boat! 15 minuted later i hulled in a big ole cat. thing was i did not have a camera with me. So i took it home in the livewell and snaped some pictures. Threw it in our garden pond over night and took it back up the next day and she swam away back into the deep blue. There was a guy that was practicaly on his knees asking me to give him that fish and i was like if u want it go catch it and i set it free right in front of him lol. I thought he was gonna cry. ill attach the picture of that fish.

nice feesh!! anyone in this area do any steelhead fishing, or even go after some of the lunker browns in york? if so were always looking for a couple people to split some gas prices with. we got 3-4 people that go, but sometimes its only 2 of us. we go around 20-30 times a season depending on the amount of rain.

I would love to but this year sux when it comes to fishing for me. Im getting tieing the knot 9-10-10 and trying to save money up for that. Im also redoing my kitchen and that is sucking the life out of me lol. My bass boat is parked with the cover on it outside Cant even put in in the garage like i used to due to all the drywall stacked on saw horses in the garage. Im ready for next spring and summer. Should be alot more fun lol. Just post when you guys are going and if i can make it and got a few extra buck me and my dad will come along. Got 2 other buddies that may wanna tag along as well. do u mean New York or York countie?????? just wondering lol.

went to wilmore last night-2 of us 4 poles in the water, 2 had livers and 2 had corn. caught 1 flathead in yellow phase-very cool to see. and also had a carp strip my 10# test like nothing--had on a very small advocet reel- but 200 yards of line was stripped in a matter of seconds and then "PING" wish i could have seen it atleast!!
