Spawn question

Hey carpers...
Never really targeted them until last year & then just after the spawn.
So my question is, are they hard/impossible to catch when they're in the thick of the spawn,
or was I just using the wrong bait/tactic today?

A certain lake (probably most of them) is absolutely thick with karpz in the shallows right now.
However, I couldn't get one to hit today @ lunch...
might bring the spear tomorrow.

FWIW, I was using store bought watermelon bait hanging 6-8" under a float.

Nothing is impossible, true during spawn is generally a tough time to catch them...Best advice is fish away from the "mess" and hope to pick up a few wanting to spawn or finished.

    +1 for you both......

On the topic of baits though..... anyone else ever hear of using gummy worms? I am serious on this one! I remember hearing of someone using them once and got me thinking about using them, plus I **** love gummy worms....

Well, are they done spawning yet?

Ya have to use spawn bait, if ya want to catch them during the spawn.

FYI, us carpers will be having our little get-together this weekend at your lunch-time lake.  Same spot as usual hopefully.

Oh, and speaking of spears, here's how to get it done:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2DRMNI_6YY
    What a (dead) pig.

LOL at some of those videos...
I've now seen someone eat carp...looks as good as I'd imagined it.

Spawn bait you say....ya, sounds like a set-up...don't think I'll ask.

Spawn seems to be about done, not nearly the shallow activity there was.
I'll stop down at some point to see how it's going...might just join in the fun...
