Catfishing Erie

Anyone ever do much catfishing around the Erie area? Was wondering if maybe the south pier or maybe some of the creek mouths might be productive at night. Not sure what kinda cats would even be around here so I dont know if chicken liver would be good?

Some cats come into the mouth of elk from what Ive heard, never done it myself. Might be somewhere to start?

P.S. watch out for the gators.

I agree with Elk Creek . Head down towards the mouth and stay in the channel.Should be able to hook up with a channel or flathead

^ as far as what kind of cats, they will eat almost anything you put in front of them. You also may find them up in the creeks on an occasion.

No flatheads. Only channel and bullheads. The creeks are good, but you can catch them anywhere on the shoreline. Some of the inland lakes are worth fishing also.

The creek mouths are good just about anytime now hit em during the day not as much as the night bite but livers crawlers just about anything average 3-8 pounds for the channels maybe bigger

Don't eat em though too much pollutants

Any shoreline, after a spell of rough water. I rig like used to for salmon. Number 8 hook about 18 inches below a split shot, an egg sinker above the split shot. The split shot just acts as a stopper.  Night crawlers that have been in the sun for the day, or three or four minnows hooked through the middle.

"Back in the day" I used to fish the jetty off beach 8. I would go down there after the lifeguards left the beach and fish until dark. On a hot night we would fill our buckets with white bass, but we usually had a line out for channel cats as well. But the park has been "improved" and the jetty is history.
