Yeah, things are looking gloomy for gas prices this year. $2.93 at my nearest station. I'm regretting buying this crew cab silverado in a big way. I'm getting 13 mpg on average. Should have stuck with an suv like my last car, but I wanted the bed to lug around a rowboat.
As far as line is concerned, I'm giving Fireline by Berkley a try this year, with a 2 foot flouro leader on some of my rigs. Other rods have 6 or 8lb trilene xl. Depends on where I go, and what I expect to catch I guess.
