FRESH STEEL IN THE MILE CREEKS

I've been steelhead fishing since the 80's and if my memory is correct, I don't remember seeing this many fresh steelies this late in the year. We clean fish for anglers and saw a few yesterday that were real fresh & real silver. Not hogs but fresh! They came from 20 Mile & 16 Mile. This past rain fall must of been significant enough for them to easily make their way from the lake. We have also seen anglers at 7 Mile the paast few days. No doubt that by the weekend the creeks will be low & clear again. On Saturday the consevation club will stock 7 Mile for the Boy Scouts so that may be off limits untill noon. It's a great thing in my eyes to see the youth getting out & fishing.

Aw come on Kirk.  I've only been fishing for steelhead for 8 years, and this has  been the worst fall and spring of those eight years. The spring of 2004, the east side creeks were loaded until May. I had many double digit
days in April. I caught my largest steelead olf the season, almost 12 pounds, on Memorial Day. This year I've walked several creeks from Rt. 5 to the mouth, and haven't seen more than a handful of fish, and those were old and dark.

Nate, if you're out there, you remember that spring?  I remember fishing
with you a few times, when there were actual runs in 4 mile, and 7 mile.
