I tied a few dries last night. Runnin' out of 14 hackles. Boo o!

A few area places have them coming off. Even saw a few cahills in Bedford county Saturday.

Twas on the water a few evenings. Caught 5 or so each night. Emergers & duns. Had one fish peck at my fly four casts in a row. once I realized he was pecking at it, I let it drift.. **** thing followed it downstream and pecked it 3 times. He was eating emergers and not quite ready for a dun. There was a duud there last night.. was lookin' forward to fishing there again. Doesn't look like the rain is gonna do too much. Looks to be hot in the coming days.. let's pick the coolest and go fishin ?

I'm cool with that -- as soon as the water quits rising.  Last night's rain has the river at 470 and rising sharply.

I bought new carbide spikes for my wading shoes, but over 350. they aren't going to help.

By the way, wht the heck would spikes come in 20 paks when there are 28 spikes on a pair of Chota's (spikes are also Chota's)?  It is kind of like having 10 hot dogs to a pack and 8 buns to a pack.  It takes a whole lot of each to have that math work our right.

I'm seeing 387 and very little rise. What the heck ?

As for 10 hot dogs and 8 buns. Common occurance wouldn't you say ?

Peaked at 470, slightly down to 450.

At leat the hot dog/bun thing comes from different companies, plus you can always feed the extra hot dogs to the dogs.  But since the Chota spikes were meant for Chota boots, you wuld think they could get that right.  Heck, even sell them in 30 packs.  But to have to buy 2 20packs and have a dozen left over is a little silly.

    Shawn,

Those are packaged to replace the studs on the new chota rubber soled boots which have fewer studs than the stl plus.

    hope that helps.

Yep, that helps.  After understanding how dumb Chota is, the 20 studs I had bred and now there are the required 28.

What I understand is that for the 100's of thousands that own the old style boot, they have a choice -- 1) buy a dozen more studs than they need at $1 each due to packaging or 2) buy a new pair of rubber soled boots at $ 125.

I take it back, Chota isn't so dumb after all.

I replaced the 10 front ones on each boot and left the heels alone.

You really should consider doing a better job of scheduling your surgeries.

    Dardys,
I will say this about the spare studs. I often replace the studs in the balls of my feet at the "high wear corners" so to speak. Having the extras is nice for replacing those areas that wear out long before the studs in the low wear areas....just food for thought.

Typically I wear the boots out before I wear the studs out.  I just wanted to change to the carbide spikes because they are just that, spikes vs. flat screw heads.

I fished a little last night. The fish wanted nothing to do with the sulphurs & cahills touching down. Saw three rises in two hours. Expected the fish to be on them mid-river. Not so.

I still haven't made it because the wife has been working on all of the warm days. Tonight I go stand there awaiting a miracle. Maybe I should take a chair.
