yep... my type of day. I wish I could fish above the surface every day of the year.

It's been a while since I had that much fun fishing, felt like a kid. While fishing dries for the first time, I couldnt help but make the analogy to chasing women...even if they dont bite, sometimes just a look can get your heart going.

Who says you can't? you would... and surely you can, but freezing temps and close proximity to freestoners, not limestoners, doesn't provide for better than average days. who cares... going to oil this weekend.. have fun doing karate

because they're wild. stocked young. raised wild, not raised in the raceways. catching them on the fly has nothing to do with it.

DT, in another thread , has a great story with pics of brookies he caught on top and they are stocked fish also. I dislike a hatchery fish being called pelletheads, cheapens the fish. That same fish becomes dang wise in about a few days. Trout are like women, the're all nice, some are just nicer then others....WF

WF, until this current post of mine, you are the only one in this thread to say "pellethead"... what's your point? anyhow, i prefer to call them Purinaheads.

Hopefully someday I'll find out, but what is the difference catching them on the 'boo? Is it just nostalgia, or is there a big difference in the rod action? Just wondering...

Bulldog, Part of it is nostalgia. Part of it is the "feel" of bamboo. It tends to be a much softer, smoother feel for equal strength. And a big part of it is in successfully using a 70-90-110 year old tool (the rod) for it's intended purpose.

Bulldog, I think I see a slight "double entarde" (sp) there.
