1st Day of Trout - PA

Looks like the weather/rain held off and it may turn out to be a decent day fishing!

Wind does'nt look that bad, but I bet the creeks are high.

Anyone venture out?

Got Pics?

Thanks,
FuNK

The wind has picked up quite a bit in West County, however, doesn't look like rain until late this afternoon. The sun is shining, hope everyone is doing good.

Just got back, Miss Murderess and I got our limits and tossed back a bunch. Best part was the creek we were fishing at was totally empty two fly junkies at the bridge and that was it...Big fesh was a 21" sucker which put up a fight Debating whether or not to dig out the match rods and go after suckers in alittle bit.

18 stockies(Halfway Dam), but you had to work for them. All caught on woolybugger flies! Why would anyone take a picture of stockies? Unless it was my kids first fish. Saw a guy catch 2 stockies on a crappie rig of yellow power bait!!!

Went to Oil creek and met up with two other guys, fished 8-3 and between the three of us we caught between 55-60 stockers. I hooked up with about a 22 inch holdover rainbow and lost it, broke my 4 pound tippet. Other guy in our group hooked up with the same holdover and also lost him. Big fish of the day was about 16 inches. SNOWED all day, when the sun came out for 15 minutes there were was some awesome dry fly action. All fish except ones on dries were on caddis larvae flies of different types. Fished the miller farm section.

Was out for about an hour with my son. He had a youth group outing to Pittsburgh so we fished first. Cold, wet wind. Caught two brownies and a few  smolt. All went back in unharmed.  We were a bit spoiled since we did the early opener Easter weekend in York, PA. It was warm enough to fish in shorts. So we got to enjoy two opening days. We are still looking forward to our second spring weekend though.

Son finally out did me on the weekend , I acted pretty dissapointed that he was outfishing me but was really proud of him. We both limited, he just did it quicker.

Saw a kid catch an 18" palamino, his dad jumped in the "crick" and threw it up on the shore. Pretty funny stuff, dad wet above the knees and past the elbows. Guessing the kid was 9 or so. He grabbed the fish in a bear hug and yelled "You're gonna die now"!

There were 4 palaminos in the hole at the opening gun, there were still 3 as of yesterday at 5:30.
