normally they are all the same price around 250 or 3 bucks a dozen. Now depending on who you get them from is a different story. Some bait shops give you 12 to 15 for your 3 bucks and some places will dump them in 30- 40 at a time for your 3 bucks. Find "those places" and your in business. Dont forget to buy other stuff while your their at "those places" cause the bait shop owner will remember that and keep you in business all the time.

I would drive the extra little bit to go to East End Angler, usually a little bit extra for your dozen. BAC is a last resort and Smiths bait isnt an option for me anymore. I bought 5 containers of waxworms there around 2 sundays ago and only one container even had any bait in it, the other 4 weren't even washed out.

...and they shouldn't get it. I've been very satisfied with the service. Even hooked the boy up with a deal on slim jims. lol Don't bother asking for the "hot spots" but for service, they're just fine. Open your bait containers and have a look. They don't mind. I only wish they were open past 4 pm, but now I know to get bait earlier. Walking into a bait/tackle shop and NOT smell bait because of the perfume is certainly... uhm... different. I'm not complaining... just saying...

excellent post havejeepcango. yeah good point just open your containers, when I go in to get minnows I ask for no large ones, they watch what they give me. They do have good service. But Joe Hansen was the best in town, Gary at poor richards would be next. the alaskan

He was the grumpy looking guy that was actually quite nice ( don't always judge a book by the cover ) past shop owner who had Hansen's bait shop at the bottom of the peninsula next to Joe Roots grill when they were down there before they moved. To the top of the hill. Hansen's shop had everything, I mean everything crammed in that store. It sucked he retired and now the show is a souvenir stand. I Joe never counted minnows. the alaskan

I was happy with my bait there as well, seemed I got a VERY healthy portion....I'm sure just an honest mistake. Good luck.

I would order 2 dozen minnows at Joes. They put so many minnows in I would have them take half out, cause I would have trouble keeping that many alive in the summer. And I knew that I needed 6 doz for perch fishing. Of course I bought lots ov other tackle off of Joe. I even bought my ice shanty off Joe, and that was a great deal. Andy, at Smiths and his other shop has been great too.

Yeah, you don't have to go far south to get them cheaper though. 1.95/dz for smalls or mediums 1 county down. They're fatheads though, not shiners. I think that has something do do with the difference in price too. I usually still buy the shiners when I'm fishing in erie. Seems like they work better up there & fatheads better inland.

BAC down near that Tom Ridge Environmental Center accross from Waldameer is very expensive in my opinion. And the guy is real stingy with the minnow-net.. he doesnt understand the magic business formula and still can't comprehend that a "return" customer is worth more than a single sale.. I almost feel sorry for the poor guy...
