Winchester Model 70 in .270 for my rifle hunting.

Most of my hunting takes place in Allegheny Co. so my true deer "rifle" is a Mossburg 500 12ga with a scope and cantilever rifled barrel.

Remington 600 Mohawk in 308 caliber..

I sold one to my buddy Tony
I never shot it but he said that little thing barks and kicks!

    I use a Rem 700BDL 270 or a Ruger 77 30-06 for most deer hunting
In heavy brush I leave the rifle behind and carry a 629 Smith w 2X

I use a 300 savage, the old model.. passed down from generation to generation.    It is old, and only seems to like remington core-lok bullets.   Can't get the gun to go off with wincestor.    I spent some time reloaded this year and couldn't get the bullets to fire.   Upon comparison of the corelok reloaded and the corelok store bought, it appeared the primer on the reloaded ones was pushed down further than the factory ones.   So, we suspect the firing pin to be weak.   I've actually had "the click" happen on deer over the years even with coreloks.  But it has never cost me a deer.  I really like the gun, guess I could replace the firing pin but I do believe it's time for a new gun next year.  My procrastination of purchasing a new one is that I only use it a couple hours a year..

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

This yr. it was whatever we had shells for. Tried looking for some with no luck & the prices on some cal. were outrageous  So we stuck with 30/30, 3-08, .243 & 30.06 this yr.

450 yds. with a 270? I think I would have to see that one. Even if done, I am not sure that would be the most responsible shot to take with that particular caliber on a deer. Just my two cents.

Sorry, back on topic. My choice is a Howa .270 with a Leupold scope, using 130 grain Speer Nitrex loads. I haven't deer hunted with it in 15 years (been done in archery), but I still shoot it and it is like most 270s... a tack driver.
