Now what ????

Since ice is not close to forming (unless you want to go to northeren Canda) and the hunting season only has another week ... what do we do boys ?

40 is too cold to be sitting on a boat, not to mention most of us have put them away already.

Brian Brian Brian - come on, I know your a glass-half-full kinda guy, one only has to look at the possibilities

Steelhead, Walleye, Panfish, Bass are all biting right now.

Small Game Hunting - rabbits and squirrels

Deer season still has a few weeks left too!

My bet is that we will be on the ice by Christmas, the days are getting shorter, it HAS to cool down. the only recent year we weren't on the ice by Christmas, it was 70+ degrees right now...so I think we are right on track for a later first ice year, but not too bad really.

That's only 3-4 weeks away ... i'll be really surprised if we're walking on walker before the new years.

Not into the hunting thing anymore, so that don't help. I thought about possiably scoping out some pannies, but i don't want to be sitting on the boat if it's under 45 degrees.

The perch should be getting big now !

I just remembered , i could troll for trout @ Greens.

I don't think any hardwater will be had until 2010, seriously.
Still 3 full weeks of deer hunting left but if I can get my fill this weekend I'll be all about steelhead until the big freeze.

its only a matter of time buddy...its def. not going to be a GREAT ice year like the last two, seeing as we have a La Nina setting up, but we will get on the ice, and with any luck, we will have at least a few weeks mid-winter to tackle lakers.

It's just a dirt launch, pretty shallow. I get my 12' alum v in there with the trailer but you need to step in the water.

No gas motors but you can use an elec motor.

Let me know how you make out.

LOL yeah dosen't seem logical, but i have lots of heat in my shanty  ... last year i hit the ice with lance and a few other guys its was -7 degrees !!!
Once i closed the trap and turned the heat on i had no hat or gloves  It's really toasty in there !

On the boat i have no protection from wind or any heat ... don't want to have to be bundled up like the michelen man on the row boat. I can't cast well
with my big mittens on LOL ... i have become puss-i-fied to cold temps !!! LOL That is part of the reason i do not want to deal with tip ups ... my hands FREEZE !!

I have been finding "the Crow" to be delicous as well, Brian...

Heck, I didn't want to get all disappointed with a first trip and find open water or anything.  Yesterday was really just supposed to be a scenic rive (with a stop for bait, just in case).  We figured we'd do some hiking and see what was shaking.  And worst case scenario was that we could take our live bait and go toss them upder a bobber on Indian Lake or something for some pike.  Turned out we stood on the ice all day and caught some fish!

Never thought we'd find totally safe and solid ice, really.  But it's HARDWATER from now 'till March boys!!!
