mailing fishing rods

Has anyone mailed any fishing rods lately, and if you have what was the cheapest way. Thanks.

    Priority mail.
Tubes are free, glue 2 together if more than 36"
I think you can go up to 60" without extra charges

    davef,
Exactly what marty says.  If you have a tube put them in it then pack them.  Use styrofoam peanuts or wadded up newspaper for cushioning.  If you don't have a tube you can make one out of PVC.  If you don't have any of that try to include a dowell rod for stiffening the package to avoid bending.  Also the Post Office insurance is cheap!  Absolutely the best way to go.  I ship/get about 40 rods a year and I don't like to even have any other carrier bring my stuff.

    Dave,

I have a couple extra tubes.  I will bring them to the party.  Is this for a two or four piece rod?
