I remember driving all the way out there and not finding any access to ice fish from, other than people's lawns. You guys know somebody on Lauderdale eh? Is icefishing allowed on the little brookie pond across the road?

Unfortunately, Dead pond is covered under general regs, no it cannot be ice fished, too bad too, cause it is L O A D E D with crappies. Don't know anything about schoolhouse pond (directly across rt 22 from dead pond), but I hear Benson Lake is pretty darn good for fishing, but no access there.

Red- thanks for the info, though it was a bummer.  I bet you could pop a canoe in that pond in late march and hit those crappies eh?

Gotem-   I see you have Grafton Lakes on your list... didn't I meet you early last season on the ice? We were the only two guys there, and I came after you and left before you. Are you from Watervliet? This was at Batman Pond (look at it from the air).  Man I didn't catch a thing that day. Kind of a recurrent theme for me.    If not, nevermind> I'm on back pain meds right now, so I ramble.

Yank meets people all over the place.  Told me he has seen Elvis on many occassions...

You should hear the stories of the "anglers" he runs with at the Troy dam in the Springtime.  Professionals.

1.  west lake always #1 for me.  lots of pickles (pickerel) and perch.  occasionally a big laker from canada lake.
2.  caroga lake.  want to get me some splake this year.
3.  canada lake.  maybe some more lake trout this year and something different?
4.  delta lake.  2 28 inch pickerel in 1 day and 5 walleyes so figured maybe i would try it through the ice.
5.  canadarago.  love it in the summer still nothing through the ice there.

1. %$%#$@$ pond - large pike. sizable perch. mungo crappie.
2. Pee Pee - essox(s)
3. Lake George - Lakers, salmon, pike, .... the list never ends
4. Various local lakes including burden, glass, and crooked usually hit the spot for panfish close by
5. Anywhere with large pike/musky. Any place with a laker/salmon population.

Cant wait for that first hole to be drilled. the silence of that stupid early time in the morning. the crispness of the air. and the sight of the first flag of the season...
