florocarbon mainline

does anyone use the trilene vanish for a mainline? I plan on buying a centerpin setup next weekend. I went to a few places around pittsburgh and noone knows what a centerpin reel is. so on my way back home tovisit the family in buffalo, i plan to pick one up and dont want to look like i am completely clueless in what i am doing. I ask because i have 2 full spools of vanish (10 and 20 lb) and figured i would put it on. I also want to test if out in the lower niagara.

Not a good idea to use floro as a mainline.  It sinks and so will your float.

Pline hydrafloat is a spectra based line, a braid. It will freeze on you bad in the winter time.

I like 8 or 10 # siglon as a mainline to a microswivel and 8 or 6# Pline CFX floro for a leader depending on conditions.

Hunt out some discontinued Tectan DAMYL in 9.2 Kilogram.  It's 3 lb test diameter and you won't have a need for floro esp if you are fishing bait......

Good luck finding it though, I think I bought the worlds remaining supply....

I have used it on spinning reels for years...its a monofilament that has better floating properties and works well on a spinning outfit.
