Do you guys.....

....... get great satisfaction on catching hundreds of steelhead with eggs on a pin? There is no easier legal way of catching them you know? Just wondering. I am not bashing or tryig to start a pin vs fly thing. I just want to know.

    ...and classy yourself

PS: I got owned when it came to numbers this early October when it came to fishing with my fly fishing buddies. They caught 3 to 1 against me when it came to browns and steelies (and mudsharks) in NY.
The perfect holding that was most approachable with a fly rod.

As a pinner I like to see fly guys hold a hole like a human decoy because when you leave I catch all the fish you could not snag

    Swinger,
I can't speak for others, but, yes, I enjoy catching steelhead on the centerpin. I am not sure it is the easiest way to catch them, as you say. I have yet to meet anyone that uses strictly eggs, it is usually a combination of eggs, beads, flys, or jigs, so that part of the question is somewhat difficult to understand. I used to fly fish, and caught my share that way, too. The centerpin is a great tool and offers some interesting differences that I enjoy. Fighting a big fish with no drag is a challenge, and there is something great about seeing the float go down, raising the rod, and haveing a steelhead explode the surface.
Also, I have yet to foul hook a fish, and that was something that always bothered me when I was using the fly rod. No matter how careful you are, there is almost no way to avoid some lining of fish. Having a steel head take a streamer on the swing is great, but I was rarely able to find the correct circumstances that made this approach a successful one. When it worked, it was great, but that was a rare thing. For most of the season the ability to present a fly or egg, or bead, so well, and cover so much water is satisfying, and the centerpin seems much more likely to be successful.
I have found that even though I have always been a die hard fly guy, and used to look askance at float guys, most of the float guys I meet are more tolerant and helpful than most of the fly fishermen I meet. It might be a jealousy thing, or a frustration thing, and is by no means scientific or conclusive, just an observation. I know quite a few former fly fishermen that now use the pin, there really is not that great a difference between the two methods, it is a different way to cast, for sure, but reading the water, and presenting the offering are what it comes down to.

Swinger,  Personally, I do enjoy catching steelhead on a center pin. More so than any of the other ways I have or do fish for steelhead. I use a spey  rod, switch rod, fly rod and casting outfits at times.  I have used a spinning (noodle) rod. I have also been known to back troll for steelhead. (This is where a plug is pulled through the water. Not to be confused with internet trolling. You may be familiar with that?)
Float fishing with a center pin is where it is at for me right now.  Is it because I can catch a lot of fish in a season? No.  If I wanted to get the numbers up, I would have stayed with my fly rod and continued to C & D.  I quit that back in the middle 80s as it left me with an empty feeling after lining many fish that had no intention of biting.  There is something about a clean drift through a slot and seeing that float drop knowing a fish has eaten my eggs (or bead, fly, jig, plastic, real worm, etc.) and then playing the fish out using my pinky as the only reel control.  I have only knowingly foul hooked 3 fish in all the years I have been center pinning.  These were on and off and I just had a scale on the hook to show for it.  I fouled hooked more fish than that last summer dry fly fishing. I love it when those browns slurp my fly off the water.  It is close to the same feeling as seeing the float move except there is lightning under the float.
