ty jimmy, I had good times on that lk last few seasons in june..trying to convince my fishing buddy to try them fall walleye that are suppose hit stickbaits closer to shore ..read it could get crazy before winter. I would rather catcht good eating walleye than trout anytime.

I was checking out myfishfinder and reading falleye reports.. man i belong up there! wish i could be a caretaker for some lakeside rich folk! probably getting too cold for the boats for the most part. Sure wish there was decent walleye closer to home.

yeah i suppose i can give the lower deeper pools a shot ..there is a good deep pool i want to try just west of roscoe..and i'm sure alot up and down..never really gave it a try from shore because there really isn't any easy access to deep shoreline. Perhaps locating the bridges would offer the best shoreline fishing on the del.

go further downstream more around port jervis or the hawks nest, and a big pool in narrowsburgh.

I agree with JK...  The Dellie has a ton of walleye in it, and not too many guys seem to target them.

I used to float the West Branch/Main Stem from Ball's Eddy to Lordsville quite often when I lived down there, and a few times I caught nothing but WALLEYE even though I was bombing the banks for trout with a Wooly Bugger or Stonefly.  I couldn't beleive how many walleye are in that river system below the confluence.

Never got any big ones, but one afternoon I caught nine with very little effort (on the fly, no less):

There are several canoe take-outs on the PA side, and I bet shore fishing there would be killer.

Plus, in my opinion, that is the prettiest stretch of water in the Catskills:

nj, that is what the locals on the EB keep telling me. I tried a few times during summer nights a couple fromshorespots but had no luck.. I never drifted , but circled that stretch along the pa. side on down to cross the lordsville bridge. I said to myself the eyes have to be in there but never yet drifted it..perhaps i'll find a drift partner next season to launch/pu my crawdad..i would use the kayak in the warm but the crawdad would work better nightfishing. On down from lordsville there is a few excellent eye holes from what i heard too. I know the eaglecampsite on the pa side will allow boat access for a very reasonble launch fee, during the season they offer boat shuttle service too. It's not easy when lazy old fishing buddies lose the enthusiasm. I guess I will try myself here and there or meet new fishing buddies who share the same fishgame. nice pics on the deli there!

Oh yeah, one more thing!!!  I don't know much about it, but I always heard a lot about the B-I-G walleye in the Wallkill just east of the Catskill peaks...  I never fished it, but the photos at the Kingston Gander Mtn Sports were pretty awesome.  Like 8lb Walters!!!  I bet that might be an easier drive too.

Last ditch could be the Lehigh River near Easton, PA.

I lived there too, and there are walleye in there, as well as a ridiculous Shad run in the spring, of course.  Easton was only like a ten minute drive over to Philipsburg, NJ so if you're close to there it could be easy!

(not sure what PA gets for licenses anymore- but maybe the Lehigh is a dual-state licensure like the Dellie since it borders both states?)

Also- on second thought- I might have to revise my statement of the WB/Main Stem confluence being the prettiest water in the Catskills.  I do love to float the Hancock-Lordville section, but I can think of only ONE place in the area that is even MORE beautiful.

The Winnisook Club on the side of Slide Mountain- home of Winnisook Lake...

Winnisook is the 'true' source of the Esopus (highest elevation) and holds some awesome fish.  But, of course, it is private as hell and considered to be one of the oldest "Gentlmen Angling Clubs" in the United States.  ALL of the big shots fished there throughout the late 1800s and up through the dam-building era of the 20s-50s.  It is an awesome spot.

I got a few invitations to go over there to fish and enjoy dinner a few times while I was in those parts.

    Absolutely STUNNING!

    Check out this spread!!!

almost forgot backin, but the mouth of the lackawaxen, where it enters the delaware is awesome for eyes and trout.

Fished it a couple of times in february and march, when we had a real mild winter a few years ago and did really well. Even got my license checked by a PA conservation officer and he was cool. I knew I could fish the PA side of the delaware with a ny license, but I asked him about fishing the mouth of the lackawaxen in PA and he said it was fine as long as I stayed near the mouth of it.

Go get em and post some porn.

Okay, after this noreast, i'm seriously considering a deli rt in pursuite of fall walleye and whatever is in those holes..hoping i find something decent around hawknest on up to calicoon. I will look for local bait shops on route too,,but i will likely have my jigs /plugs/gulp alive and real nightcrawlers.
