Epeorus (clinger) Nymph


Material List: Tails- Virtual Nymph Synthetic Quills
Abdomen- Fly Tyers Dungeon Latex
Gills- CDC
Wing Pad- Virtual Nymph Stoneclinger Wing Plates 4MM
Thorax- Thread built up and Hard As Hull
Legs- Plucked Golden Pheasant Tail

Tying Instructions: Mark bands then secure the Virtual Nymph Synthetic Quills at the rear of the hook.
Tie in the latex and the CDC feather at rear.
Wrap latex to just beyond halfway and secure.
Palmer the CDC feather forward in the spaces between each wrap of latex. Tie off just beyond the shanks halfway point.
Pluck the CDC fibers from the top and bottom of the abdomen and trim the sides to the desired length to create the gills.
Mark abdomen to the desired color(s).
Tie in a single, marked Virtual Nymph Stoneclinger Wing Plates (4MM).
Pluck 6 Golden Pheasant Tail barbs, crease, and secure 3 on each side.
Mark the thorax to the desired color. Coat with Hard As Hull or similar.
Fold wing pad back over the thorax.
Whip Finish.
Coat wing pad with adhesive and you will often have to repaint the wing pad after the adhesive has dried.
Presentation Tips: Fish along the bottom of fast moving sections of river, like the Slide In of the Madison.
