Seriously don't be scared to put some pressure on them (One of the many reasons for long rods)

That's a lot of carp, but May 8 -11 isn't exactly Fall now is it?  So East Harbor huh?-------I'm guessing that is East Harbor St. Park on Lake Erie in OH?  What did yinz guys do with those fish or were you even involved with shooting them?

I caught a bunch last night on the Northside, although the big guy eluded me yet again. Biggest was 26 inch, 14 pounds.

Not bad.  What's your biggest carp from the 3 rivers?  I used to fish the Mon River a good bit when I lived down that way, but could never get any bigger than mid-teens weightwise.

I never used to weigh them but the longest i caught was 34". They don't really seem to get very fat on the rivers, do they?

I'm not a fan of bow fishing for that reason... all those wonderful opportunities for a rod/reel angler to hook up a hog... just lying their dead. Thanks for killing peoples exciting moments to come!

No they don't a lot of the time.  A river carp has to usually deal with the current most of the time so they usually can't chill in slack water all the time like a lake carp can and get fat.  So it makes sense that river carp are more streamlined.
34" could/should be a 20 lber., but I would need a girth measurement too, to plug the numbers into a carp weight guesstimate formula to get a good guess on the weight.

According to PFBC regulations a total of 50 carp per day can be kept per person (no limit at Pymatuning).  I think OH regs. are similar.  There's 14 people in that pic so they'd be allowed 700 carp total per day in PA.  I don't think there's anywhere near 700 carp in that pic, so they're legal, like it or not.  Dead, yea, but they're just fish.
Those bfers probably got just as much excitement shooting them as we would catching them.  I would never criticize another group of sportsmen for enjoying their legal sport-----just the way it is as far as carp go (and suckers and catfish in PA for that matter).  The PFBC allows it so............................................

I definitely get that... I am not going to criticize anyone doing what they do, within reason. I bet i'd have a **** good time bow fishing also. I just have a hard time looking at it as "they're just fish."

i look at that pile of carp and see you or i, or a child we took out for the first time, hooking into one of those fish and not only getting a rush out of the catch, but also satisfaction knowing returning it is like giving a gift to someone down the line hooking up with the same excitement we felt.

Maybe i'm a romantic of sorts, i guess i can't help it, haha.

Yeah, the 26" Incher i caught the other day was 14 pounds, tho one of the shorter ones i didnt weigh might have weighed close to 14 also, it was shorter but fatter than the rest for sure.

Like I said I have no problem with bow fishing but that pic is a real shame.  Aint nothing wrong with taking a few but thats uncalled for.  Imagine you had trout piled up like that. Or bass.

There's plenty of carp to go around for everyone to enjoy, even with the bfers and PFBC killing them.  No worries.
Check out this thread for some kick-a $ $ fall carpin':

If ya wanna be a jack****.
Anyone can throw worthless fish in a landfill------just do it.  If the PFBC can do it, so can the fishermen.
