sheephead

anybody been out hunting sheephead?  went and checked a few trees today and got one, found a few starting to grow, and found a few that didn't make it last week due to no rain.  One buddy also found a few today.

I can ask you the same question on the sheephead...
    I've never looked for them...

generally find them at the base of oak trees in the fall, although i know someone that has a different tree (forget which kind) that produces some nice mushrooms.  sometimes you can find them in mid to late augest depending on weather. this year they are a little late since we had a dry september.

got to be cool damp weather for an extended period of time  check oak trees in valleys and bottems.  they dont last long but a batch of leeks and morrels fried up are worth the work
