Oak 9/26-9/27

Four of us fly fished the Oak on Sat. and Sun.  The reports available on the web provided false information for those fishers who truly fish for the kings and browns.  There were salmon in the river...just moving through all the way to the Waterport Dam. No fish were staged on redds nor were any dropping back to spawn.  The scene at the dam was the usual free entertainment.  We were able to get to fish at the lower end of the cable at the dam and fished over kings with many different patterns.  None of the four of us were successful at hooking up.  It was bust of a trip as far as the fishing goes.  Two more weeks and it will be good.  Be wary of reports unless you are a snagger and enjoy "fishing" the wall and cable at the dam.
