youth duck hunt

So who took a kid out today? I took my 14 year old brother out. Watched him shoot 2 drake wood ducks @ 7 am. Nothing better than seeing a kid enjoy the great sport of hunting.

What could be better than catching perch...

Im still of the age for the youth but this is the last year.  But i did not make it out yesterday.  Usually wait till it comes in around middle of october then slay em at a swamp in western pa.

My kids are to old this year. Wanted to take out a 13 yr. old boy again this year but with the new lice. system he can not hunt 'till he is 19. He is on probation for selling drugs when he was 11. He loved hunting with me last year & was a great experience for the both of us. He will be roaming the streets this fall instead of the woods

crappie, I feel for you.  But I personally agree with the law.  I have been shot while hunting and it just happened to be a guy that was all doped up.  Fortunately, all I got was a broken bone or two in my hand and no permanent damage but it could have been worse.  People that are messing with drugs are the last ones that should be allowed to have a gun int their hands.

    griff,

I hear you on the law to a point. The kid never met his father & his mother moved to the country from the city, to get away from the drug problems. Think at the age of 11 if stayed clean (with tests) should be given a 2nd chance.

You should have seen the look in his eyes from the beginning ov the morns 'til he left for home after darks. The learning, rules, saftey, helping, patience, adventure & mother nature of all that takes place in a hunt from the night before 'til after the hunt. Waterfowl, deer or just a bushytail hunt, priceless to a boy.

Ahhh, only if he was the Vice Pres. ov the usa

He can and should still go with you. He just can't carry a gun. It could be a good learning experience for him and would be better than roaming the streets.

Had 4 kids out. Girls outshot the boys in the morning. got a few had a nice lunch and a great day. Evening hunt produced some shooting but no kills.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

I'm too old now for the youth hunts but i sure do miss going out with my dad and shooting game it was probably one of the greatest times of my life to see my dad having fun with me. i remember the first duck hunt i went on with my dad i was sitting in a chair and 3 woodies came straight over top of us i shot sitting down and fell straight backwards flat on the ground ill never for get us laughing so hard, i did manage to get that duck, first shot ever at a duck too... i learned more on those days hunting with him then i did in school.....getting old sucks
