Ice fishing Pics

Okay, I saw Jigs talking about wanting to see some ice fishing pics...lets see your 5 favorite ice fishing pics...

I'll throw one out from February there to start us off with

Probably one everyone's seen already, but its the prettiest lake trout I've ever seen, AND it was caught on my jig rod in my shanty...but by my buddy Scott (the trout whisperer)

This one is my personal favorite just because of the memory of that day. My wife was a week late, and idiot me wanted to squeeze in one more day of ice fishing. It was early March in downstate NY, and the ice wasn't going to last much longer. Shortly after this pic was taken, we were bombarded by a sick storm. My wife calls and tells me it's time. Well, my buddy was cool enough to pick up my gear for me (we took separate trucks), and I crawled through the snow storm to pick her up, then we crawled to the hospital. We JUST made it. She needed a emergency C-section because she wasn't dialating. I'll never live that one down.

My 1st pike. Just moved to upstate NY, and was totally excited about catching it.

Probably my PB pickerel, but I don't really keep track of PB's so IDK.

Slab crappy out of you know where. Picture does NOT do this fish justice.

Mixed bag. I found out that rock bass aren't very delectable.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.

I just like how the light was here on Saratoga Lake. Also it's from my first ice-fishing season and I got two no-flag pike when I went to pull up and go home that day... I'm sure I had the tipups setup wrong .... was a nice surprise though.

LOL it was my 1st time Laker fishing i only have a 4" auger, so i made 2 holes right next to each other and punched the center out. Good thing i did !!!
You can see it looks like a figure 8 hole. Another funny part that story, it was fighting like hell and couldn't get him turned head up at the hole. So i went
elbow deep in the freezing water and lipped him  (yes lakers have teeth) ... i was so pumped and not losing that fatty no matter what.

Jigs: I have an 8" auger, and so far we have fit up to 35" lake trout through those holes...it is tough though - usually on big fish most people just gaff them, but since we let our biggest lake trout go (big lakers taste nasty) we try to land them without the gaff. Alot of times with those bigger fish, it takes longer to position them to go through the hole than it does to get them tired out and up to the top from 150'+ of water.

Yank: The big laker scotty had was 32.5" long 12.5lbs
