Paradox Weekend

Hit Paradox for the fist time this weekend.  Weather was decent and it was cool to chill with pop.  Here is a shot of him riggin up on Friday night.  The excitement for the fishing on Saturday was palpable.

Had a beautiful morning on Saturday after the rained stopped.

Headed West to try for Lakers, and we had no luck.  Then targeted Pike with the same result.  Tried panfish next an d that worked.  Mixed bag including those tasty perch.

Caught a shore lunch, and pop had had enough, so I headed back out by myself.  Caught 2 nice bass off the eastern islands and some more pannies.  None of the fish were huge, but they were still tasty.  Most peaceful day of fishing I've had in a long time Beautiful too.

Unfortunately I forgot the camera after our lunch, so no Bass porn.  My apologies.

Looks great Z~ and relaxing is what it is all about something I often miss.
I figured the lakers would be tough but really thought the Pike might be a bit more willing. After you go through the narrows did you fish the bay off to the Left ?? That is where I figured would be Pike waters. Anyway do you feel it is a worth while lake or just some place to relax ?
With the chance for trout, pike, bass & pannies and lack of pressure it is very high on my hardwater list.

I did fish that bay but no pike.  Admittedly, I really don't know that much about pike fishing though.  The entire side of the lake was really packed with grass and weeds, except for the deepest part in the middle.  It got aggrevating after a while, constantly pulling the weeds off and getting hung up.

I really enjoyed the east side of the lake though.  As far as worthwhile it is hard to say.  If I was going for a weekend camping get away it's pretty neat; but if I was going to  fish, fish, fish, I would check out some other waters first, before heading back there.

You need to fish the thick stuff for the hogs, just ask Brian.
I'm not sure it right to give out his go to lure but the one I have found that works great and would never be afraid to toss in the thickest stuff in any lake is the Ribbit Frog by Stanley.

That says it all man !!!

To add to what RJ mentioned, frogs really seem to be the way to go in that really thick stuff. Any of the brand names as long as they are rigged correct can be tossed right into the thickest of crap and brought right over the top.

Definitely familiar with the froggin' as well as RF's lizard technique.  Problem was we don't have a trolling motor yet.  On the east side of the lake we kept getting pushed right to shore because of the wind.  That definitely limited our fishing.  Thanks for the advice though.

I had a sweet pike (easily 36") tackle a High-Floater Ribbit on Lewey Lake around sunset on Saturday.

Right over the scum and dense weeds in 2-3ft of water.  The thing streaked out like I have seen them do in the springtime and crushed it.  My line took off, the little ultralight and PowerPro were screaming for all for three seconds and then.  My frog came in missing BOTH of his legs.

Amputed right at the thighs, and the hook was still buried in the frog.  The mutha' never had the steel...

It was still pretty awesome though.  Brian and Tuna have got me back into the fun of froggin' the weeds.

I know Reel Force gets 'em good with his weightless and weedless lizard.  Midday, no less.  Pretty sweet hits.
