Apples this year

Last year I had great success not far from a few apple trees...

This year I am seeing virtually no apples on those trees. The apple tree outside of camp also has had virtually no apples.

What are your experiences? Did that late frost we got make for a terrible apple season?

Here upstate NY, alot of the apples fell off the trees in august, and either rotted or got eaten up. Our mast crop this year is VERY strong though, and the deer are already targeting the beach, hickory and oaks.

We had hard frosts on May 26 and 27 (temps in mid 20's) and most apple trees were in full bloom then. It just fried them. The apples here are down 90-95% from last year and most of what there are are small and ugly. I have found enough to hunt in three places but it took a lot of searching and moving out of my normal hunting areas. Lots of red and chestnut oaks but yesterday was the first white oak I have seen with any acorns to speak of and I have glassed dozens of trees.

Have to agree with S-10.. most apple trees around here are bare of apples.

Acorns are falling and look plentiful in SOME AREAS !! not all though..

will have to scout more to find better mast crop areas.

have two apple trees at one of the farms i hunt that are starting to drop alot of apples now and there is still a lot on the tops. have a trail cam connected to the tree been getting pics of does daily and got one small 6 point a couple of times.  no big bucks coming to them yet. they also are on the edge of a corn field and from the videos on the cam it looks like they eat a few then walk into the corn witch is torn up pretty bad too.

Lot of apples got fried, but the ones that didn't will be REAL nice!

Same from my cuz in Warren Co.  No apples to speak of but plenty of acorns and hard mast.  Down here in the SW around me, there seemed to be a good many apples but they were smaller and dropped early.  Haven't even scouted yet and I need to get my arse in gear.

the fruit trees only produse very well every 2 or 3 years, not every year. the year they produse good they use the nutrients out of the ground and it takes alittle while to get it back.even most farmers alternate there corn every year. good apples last year, no apples this year ,maybe be good next year
