Elk Photos

My girlfriend and I took a trip to Elk County today in an attempt to see some elk and maybe snap a photo or 2.

After a lot of driving and a little hiking here's what we got.

Enjoy

    Great photos Dan.

Duncsmom and I went up last week.  We were watching a cow and calf in a creek bed when another cow walked out onto the shoulder of the road we were near.  It wasn't 5 yards away.

Seeing the bulls and hearing them bugle was cool. The biggest bull in the pics ran off 2 others while we watched. The bull standing in the creek was one of them.

Now I need to convince her that we (I) need to go west for a hunt.

I've been meaning to get up there for a few bugles.  Nice pics.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

any particular areas better than others, and is getting up there first thing in the morning worth it as opposed to late morning?

Route 555 corridor and Winslow Hill are your best bets for seeing elk.

Dawn and dusk are the best times to see and hear them....

I love those white tipped, chocolate antlers.
