Should have slept in ...

Nothing major to report  ... it was pretty cool being out there under the moon and stars. We were chucking topwaters by 4:40am , had to do everything by sound for the 1st half hour or so.

Man am i glad i wore jeans !!! It was pretty friggin chilly out there until the sun made it over the hill tops. Hands were cold and nose running, would have thought it was an Oct morning.

My buddy Joe got this dude pretty early ...

... and i don't usually let these jerks in the boat , but if it were not for a few of them i would not have laid my hands on a fish thi morning ...

Well at least i won't be thinking today "what if" ?

Oh well, now for that lonnnnggggg day.

Good luck everybody else this weekend , lets see some REAL fish porn !!!

BB, I opened one eye about 6am and smartly decided to give it some more time for the toxins to wear off. We slept in till 8:30 (Jimmy a little later , LOL) and hit the water after a dandy breakfeast around 11am..

We had a lot of ice cold toxins on Saturday...  Which usually leads to a late start on Sundays, of course...

Fishing was tough this weekend...  Not the numbers we were hoping for (handful of trout, handful of bass) but nevertheless a good time up in the mountains with The Tuna...  And my new tent kicks arse, by the way.

I was really hunting for a nice pike- but a bunch of bass showed up instead...  That fattie being the biggest...

Nice fish dudes!  BRIAN thats a very nice pick indeed.  JIMMY is that from Lake Jimmy?

PERCH:  I feel your pain man. I broke off what would probably have been my new PB largemouth last week... got him right off shore in a lily pad bed on BL, he was a big black monster.  If anybody there sees a lunker there with a frog in his yap, can ya grab it?
I saw him jump and roll twice and I'm still wondering what happened, must have had a nick in the braid.  He crushed my last Mann's Super Frog which is my new go-to bait in the thick stuff. They cast like a rocket even on braid due to the ingenius design of a disc magnet on the bottom that also serves to keep hooks in line. I just ordered more in three colors.

PIKE :  Good info you gave me about the crappie spot in canal- Thanks!  I got a good crappie bite for about 20 minutes.... then they shut off at dark. I may be there again tonight a little earlier so if you're in the area, stop over.

No problem, I'm glad you got into some of them!! That spot will get even better as we head towards fall, at that time I will be there pretty often too.
