80hp Mercury for sale

I am parting out my boat and the first thing to go is the 80hp Mercury main motor.  The motor is a 1971 and still runs like a champ.  In addition to the motor the controls are included, a spare powerhead that I picked up for spare parts, and 2 props.  The motor is still attached to the boat and can be started.  Price is $700.

Just so there is no confussion, the motor does not have power trim.  The cylinders that you see are just shocks.

Motor is no longer for sale.  No one was interested in either the boat or motor so I renewed the registration.  Sorry for not posting it, but I figured that it would just migrate to the bottom and no one would see it.

Yep.  Nothing is wrong.  The worst thing for a motor is to sit and not get used, so I'll run the crap out of them.  Probably just perchin' by myself, but I'll get her out once in a while and "blow the stink out".

He's at the end of week 3 of it being at the shop.  They said it would take 3-4 weeks for it to get reman'd.  We were figuring that the 4th would be the soonest.  He said he's going to call on it next week if he doesn't hear anything.

Blackbird Industries.  No he's having the whole motor reman'd, rebuild the powerhead, rebuild carbs, disassemble and check lower unit.  Add another grand to that price.  Hence the reason I am a new found I/O supporter, it was $3500 for the reman or $13000+ for a new motor.  Which, even after the reman the motor will not be 100%.  Merc stopped making the pistons for that motor, they make something close that will work, but the compression ratio is much lower.  We'll see...

    Trap,
I wish your buddy luck.  I've heard untold horror stories from that place.  They've been sued numerous times for fraud and deceptive business practices.  There's even a website dedicated to customers who've gotten a raw deal from them.

After talking to them I'd trust them a hell of a lot more then anyone around here to touch my motor.  We'll see, we spent an hour there talking to various people about what they do.
