new reel
I just recieved my new reel today. I purchased a paine falls centerpin for those of you that dont know these reels are made in painesville ohio by a very talented guy. He added a clicker that will put any other pin to shame(no more rubberbands for me). Also this reel will spin forever, it was sure nice to purchase a reel that is made so close to erie. I dont have any pics of it yet I will post them when I get a chance

I got one on the way as well. I found out about the guy when he first decided to make the genesis after the prototype was successful and had a discount of over 100 dollars off the first ones. Good looking reel, but I'll take function, durability, and smoothness/good startup over looks any day. Its a tool first, right? Can't wait to test mine out on some carp and cats. Hope yours sees lots of fish and provides years of good fishing.

Nice reel for sure...I'll be looking into one myself someday. Speaking of clickers, I'm not a fan of the clicker and its placement on my Kingpin and don't know what they were thinking, but as far spinning, smoothness and weight is still the top production reel made IMO.

I'd rather see you on elk...also you might see me with my 3yr old the old set up is his now. Not sure if he'll be able to work an 11' rod but if he can I'll be sure to have the video camera.

Paul, how do you have your kingpin setup? Lefty or righty....wich hand do the handles face? Can you fish either way and still be comfortable?

ORIGINAL: Carphead Paul, how do you have your kingpin setup? Lefty or righty....wich hand do the handles face? Can you fish either way and still be comfortable? Sorry, didn't see this until just now....At any rate, I fish the reel by reeling it with my left hand just like a spinning reel. While drifting, the rod and reel are held in my right being controlled with the right hand fingers. I don't see why you couldn't fish this reel either way comfortably simply by turning the reel around on the reel seat. Hope this helps.

I meet Adam the maker of the PFC and was lucky enough to fish a prototype last season. The reel is bullet proof.

Paul, I was asking you if you could fish either way comfortably. If you can, switching the reel so you are reeling with your right hand will obviously change the position of the clicker so its in a more convienent/more comfortable position for you. The clicker on your kingpin is on the right side of the reel, top front, when reeling with your left hand, correct? If you switch it to be reeled with your right hand it will be be on the left top and to the back wich should help you to have it in a more comfortable position. Or maybe not since you are switching what either hand is doing. Just a thought.

Nope....wouldn't work for me either way...one, because I'm more comfortable reeling with the left and controlling the rod with the right. Even if it were switched, when batting the reel to reel in quick, the clicker is in a bad position where it is. It would be much better suited on the side of the reel or on the top, for me anyway. Its the only reel I've seen with the clicker in this location and I question why they put it there....?
