Trolling eyes at Night

I have never night trolled for eyes before and I heard people are doing it in 10-12ft of water using plugs and such. I was wondering where you go for this we usually launch out of walnut so I don't know if that is a good area and also what different lures work for doing this besides plugs.

If you go and use planer boards either the big ones or the clip-ons PLEASE use lights, light sticks, or something so everyone else trolling at night knows that you have boards out and how far. Stickbaits are all you need. Raps, renoskys, bombers, smithwicks, plus a million others will take fish. Use what you have faith in.

Just east of Walnut, from the mouth to Powell Ave is always good in 12-16' of water. Planer boards, medium diving plugs (Bang-o's, thundersticks, bombers) will all work. Normal colors, pearl works good. Set the lines back about 60' behind the releases. Keep all of the light you can from reaching the water! Don't want it to look like daylight out there. Make sure your Navigation lights are working and be very careful to watch for others who think they are all alone on the water. I quit doing it after having numerous close calls.

Allways have a worm harness in firetiger down the shute no weight 85to110 back and allways get one or two on this set up. Run big Boards with Glow necklaces from dollar store wrapped around flag on board so they will be seen. pull rapalas in size 14, j-9's Bagleys etc. and you will get them. try to follow (not too closely) another boat as there are some mighty big rocks along the shoreline to the east of the creek in the 9-12 fow range. Good luck.

Fished Sat night until the storm blew up. We went 3 for 4 all smal 2 to 4lb fish. Saw two boats almost do a head on collision. Also saw several running boards w/o any lights on them. One boat kept shining a flashlight on theur tow line trying to see if they had a bite.

i have had many close calls out on that lake at night
be careful around the point because big ships come out of nowhere
some guys turn there nav lights off for some reason
you can imagine seeing lights come on right in front of you while going 20 mph
    scare you to death
seen waves 5-6 feet come out of nowhere with no noticable wind
    knock you right off balance
when the waters cold like right now you wont make to shore
even if your only 100 yds from it
