my luck

There was a hen in my yard when I got home from work this morning. As I type this, she's back out there picking underneath my birdfeeder. Maybe I'll set up on my back porch tomorrow!

Good chance she has a nest somewhere near you. We have 2 single hens every morning and evening come in under ours and once in awhile a small jake. Don't get too excited about seeing a long beard there as he is looking for non nest sitters.

lot of single hens running around right now with no gobblers around. they are nesting or going to nest. come face to face with a hen on a nest while picking shrooms a couple days ago. she was behind a tree. she ran just alittle ways. 14 eggs in thew nest.

Again, I got home from work this morning, and that hen was in my yard. She must be nesting nearby. Sadly, she always seems to be alone.

I went out to set up a blind for tomorrow morning. I bumped a bird on the way to the spot, actually about 50 yards from where I put the blind. Hope there are more in the morning, this will be my last chance.
